Weekly Enrichment Kits

Enrichment Kits will be distributed weekly from the community library. Feel free to stop by and pick one up!

Week 1: Backyard Birdfeeders

During the week of June 8th, kits will include all the supplies and instructions needed for building your own backyard birdfeeder. Included is a bird identification guide with 24 bird you may see in your backyard, created with the help of the National Audubon Society.

Week 2: Propeller Cars

During the week of June 15th, our enrichment kit has everything your family needs to build a rubber band-powered propeller car! Take a shot at some home-made engineering and see how far you can make your car drive!

Week 3: Growing Jack-O’-Lanterns

It may just now be turning to summer, but during the week of June 22nd our enrichment kit will get you ready for fall. This week’s kit has everything needed to grow the perfect Jack-O’-Lantern pumpkin. Plant one now and you’ll be ready to harvest in October!

Week 4: Alum Crystals

This week’s kit is a chemistry lesson, as kids will grow their own crystals from a common household item, alum powder (which is completely safe, you can even buy it in the spice aisle). This one takes patience and care, but by the end of it you’ll have a sparkling crystal to show off to friends and family!

Week 5: Wood Working Kit

With as hot as its been, perhaps we would all like to imagine cooler weather and celebrate a little bit of Christmas in July! This week’s kits include small wood working projects that all have a Christmas theme! Come by to grab a kit and imagine cooler days ahead!

Week 6: Gliders

Get ready to become aeronautical engineers! This week’s kit will give families everything they need to get their start in glider design. Included is a short, easy to understand lesson on the basics of aerodynamics along with instructions and supplies for building three very different kinds of paper and cardboard airplanes.

Want to Donate?

All enrichment kits are absolutely free for anyone and everyone. However, that would not be possible without the generous contributions of people in our community (and beyond)! However, the number of kits that we can distribute is entirely dependent on the generous donations of people in our community (and beyond!). If you would like to help make these enrichment kits a reality, or wish to support any of the other programs of the Don Bosco Center, click here for our donations page. Simply fill the amount you wish to give in the line marked “The Don Bosco Center” (towards the bottom) and all money given will be used exclusively by the Don Bosco Center for services to the community.
